How we review, source, and update the deadline guides and calculators on this site.
Who reviews our content
Every guide on Deadline Calculator is written and reviewed by Rachel Whitfield, our editorial lead and a UK compliance and legal-operations specialist. Before a guide is published or materially updated, it is checked against the current legislation and regulator guidance it relies on.
Our sources
We base deadline rules on primary sources rather than second-hand summaries. The sources we use most often are:
- legislation.gov.uk - the official text of UK statutes and statutory instruments, including the Freedom of Information Act 2000, the Employment Rights Act 1996, and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
- Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) - guidance on FOI, EIR, and subject access request time limits.
- Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) - rules on complaint-handling deadlines and DISP.
- GOV.UK - official guidance, including the annual bank holiday list.
- Acas - employment and notice-period guidance.
How content is reviewed and dated
- Last reviewed dates. Each guide shows a "Last reviewed" date so you know how current it is. We re-check a guide whenever the underlying legislation or guidance changes.
- Worked examples. Rules are tested against real UK dates, including weekends and bank holidays, before publication.
- Calculator alignment. Guides and calculators are checked together so the written rule matches what the tool returns.
Accuracy and corrections
We aim for accuracy, but deadline rules are detailed and change over time. If you spot an error or a rule that has changed, please contact us with the page and the source you are relying on. We review corrections promptly and update the page and its "Last reviewed" date.
Important: This site is a planning aid, not legal advice. Deadlines can depend on facts, policy wording, jurisdiction, service rules, pauses, extensions and changing law. Always verify important deadlines with the official guidance or a qualified adviser.
