Rachel Whitfield

Rachel Whitfield leads the Deadline Calculator editorial team. She has spent over a decade working in UK compliance and legal-operations roles, where counting statutory deadlines was part of the day job.
Her work has centred on the rules that trip people up most often: freedom of information (FOI) and subject access request (SAR) time limits, regulator complaint timelines, employment and tenancy notice periods, consumer cooling-off periods, and payment terms. She built this site's review process so that every guide is checked against the primary source — legislation.gov.uk, ICO guidance, FCA rules, or GOV.UK — and carries a dated "Last reviewed" marker.
Rachel is responsible for the editorial standard across the site: plain-English explanations, worked examples with real UK dates, and a clear link back to the law or regulator guidance behind each rule. She also keeps the calculators aligned with the written guides so the tool and the explanation always agree.
